Weigh in

Two blogs in two days!  You lucky dogs.  Anyway, I figured I better do a post before I forgot.  For those of you who bet I was 15 lbs, you were 1/2 an ouce too high.  I weighed in at 14 lbs 15.5 ounces, which is in the 50th-75th percentile.  I was 24 inches tall, which is the 25th-50th percentile, and my head was 16 1/2 , which is 25th-50th.  So, I'm short and fat with a small head!  Turns out mommy had similar stats at 4 months.  14 lbs, 25 inches long.  No head circumfrence listed.  Thomas was 17lbs. 2 oz. at 4 months, and 25.5 inches long.  After they checked me out, declared me fit as a fiddle and a fine looking young lady, they jabbed me 3 times in my fat storage in the thighs.  I was not pleased.  I'm still not thrilled, but it's manageable.

I'm going to get some rest, so I'll talk to ya'll later.

Gone Fishin' and other adventures

Hello, Thomas here.  It's been a couple of months since we've visited, but it's been pretty busy around here.  Thankfully it's starting to warm up a bit and we're able to get outside and run around.  Mommy acts like we've been trapped indoors for years, but it hasn't really been that bad.  At least not for me and Sofia.

Anyway, yesterday morning daddy and I had some guy time and we went and ran some errands, picked up some flowers for the flower beds, and swung by Grandpa's house downtown.  I tell you what, I knew I liked that Grandpa.  You know what he had waiting for me there?  A spiderman fishing pole!  I couldn't wait to get it home and show mommy.  Everyone seemed fairly surprised at what a natural I was at casting and reeling.  I don't really know why.  I keep telling them I'm fairly good at everything I do.  I haven't tried it out in the pond yet, but I practiced on the flower beds most of yesterday afternoon.  I caught an azalea bush, and another flower.  I can't wait to try it on the real thing!

Uncle Al and Daddy got out their tackle boxes and showed me the different lures I could use.
But I was really only interested in the rubber worms.

Then, today, I was feeling artistic.  After breakfast I told mommy I wanted to work on my painting.  So, she put me in one of her old t-shirts, sat me outside and let me go to work.

It didn't take long before I had produced about 15 paintings.  I threw down my paint brush and declared myself done.  I call it my blue period.

I figure one day they'll be on display in the Guggenheim.  So, it's been a pretty busy weekend for me.  I'll let Sofia fill you in on hers.

hiiiiiiii!  Long time no talk!

I've mostly spent the weekend resting.

But that's just because I'm recovering from a totally awesome week!  My girls Madeline and Adeline came over on Tuesday and we had a par-tay!  Here I am telling Madeline a secret.  It was really funny too.

Then the three of us just lay around and looked cute and laughed at our mommies.

It's hard to believe that there are only 10 weeks separating the three of us.  I look like the giant baby from the cartoons next to the two dainty babies.  I like to eat, what can I say.  Plus, mommy assures me that Thomas was probably twice my size and he's slimmed out nicely.

Whatevs.  I'm fat and happy and that's all that matters.

Can't wait to see my cousins again soon!

In addition to all the socializing, I also rolled over for the first time this week.  We didn't get any pictures of that, because, well, it's hard to capture rolling in a picture, so you'll have to take my word for it.  I HATE to be on my belly, so I pretty much just roll right on over as soon as I get put on it.  It isn't helping that bald spot I have in the back, but I have enough hair up top to make up for whatever I'm missing in the back.

That's pretty much it for me.  I have my 4 month check up on Monday, so we'll find out how big I've gotten then.  Any guesses?  Tune in next time to find out.

Toodles,

Thomas and Sofia.

In Style

Well, hello there.  Thomas is sacked out after a long weekend of birthday parties, both for himself, and his friend, so I thought I'd take this time to update the blog for you.

I'm 9 weeks old now, and just delightful.  I slept for 6 hours straight the other night, so mommy's feeling refreshed again.  I'm weighing in at about 12 pounds, which incidentally is less than Thomas weighed at this age.  Just as a point of reference, Thomas was 11 lbs. 3 ounces at 5 weeks.  I was 11 lbs. 9 ounces at 8 weeks, so you do the math.
Anyway, hitting the 12 pound mark affords me some advantages, and that is that I can finally fit into 3 month clothes, which, let's be honest, is really when they start getting cute.  Speaking of cute outfits, let's discuss this little number I have on, shall we.
This footie pajama is from Gap's fall collection.  It was given to me by my Aunt Catherine for Christmas.  It's cute, not just because I'm wearing it, but because of it's many details.  Let's start with the obvious, and talk about the color.  As you can see, this outfit has a nice neutral brown as it's main color.  But it's not a harsh brown, it's sort of muted, which goes nicely with my complexion.  The brown is of course accented with some delightful pink ballerinas, which are my thing.  I'm all about the ballerinas.  But this outfit is precious beyond the color and ballerinas.  You might have noticed the ruching allong the snaps down the middle.  Ruching is a technique used in the fashion world to add a little detail to an outfit, and I think it does a nice job here, don't you?  It's very popular these days, and I think it gives a nice visual affect here, without highlighting my rolls.  NOT that I have rolls, just you know, if I did, the ruching would not draw attention to them.

Anyway, let's talk about the back.

Do you see what the designer did here?  In keeping with the balerina theme, it's like a tutu, except it's not.  It's only on the back, so it's just a little ruffle accent.  Clever, right?  Cute and fancy like a tutu, but not cumbersome.  Plus, it makes my butt look totally adorable.

So, this is fun. Don't you feel like you know so much more about me, and fashion now that I've explained all this to you? Get ready for a lot more of this because since discovering that I was a girl in July, mommy has received approximately one package each week from some retailer with clothing for me. I have a closet full of clothes that I haven't even worn yet, so I'll be showcasing them all here, just for you. Thomas should be really pleased with that too.  I mean it, he'll be pleased.  He adores me .

It was really cold that day, and I honestly think mommy dressed me in that just for a laugh.  It sort of looks like Thomas was laughing at me too, but the jokes on them, because I still look adorable.

Anyway, Thomas and I will be doing some more blog posts soon, so keep checking back!

Kisses,
Sofia

Note from the editor

I have been trying to publish the previous post for 3 weeks now. Apparently Blogger didn't like the interface I was using, and so once I changed that, it finally published.  Sorry it took so long, but just in case you hadn't heard via another outlet, the princess has arrived!

Big Brother

Today I am a big brother. Well, I guess technically yesterday I became a big brother, but you get the idea. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. On Tuesday morning I was so excited I went outside and picked this flower for Baby Sofia and brought it to mommy. She was so happy she made me take this ridiculous picture.
Anyway, Tuesday night I went to Abuela and Gramps' house to spend the night because mommy and daddy had to be at the hospital really early. The next time I saw them, Baby Sofia had arrived.
The first thing I did was climb into bed with mommy and make sure she was ok, then I demanded to hold MY baby. I gave her lots of kisses and told everyone I loved her. Look at what a nice family we make.
I know I don't look that thrilled in this picture, but I really was. It's just we had taken this picture about 15 times and this was the closest we could get to everyone looking at the camera and/or smiling, or not screaming (Sofia). Anyway, I'm pretty excited my baby sister is here. Isn't she the sweetest?
Eventually I left to go do some big brother/big boy stuff. You see, since I found out that I was going to be a big brother, I've been doing a lot of changing and growing up to get ready so I could be more of a help. First thing I did was move into a big boy bed. I've donated my baby bed to Sofia. I think she needs it more than I do. So, I helped Daddy put my new trundle bed together. That was a lot of fun.
Then mommy put this really cool red tent on my bed for me to sleep in. The bed used to be daddy's and the tent was mommy's, so that makes it all pretty special. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed that these artifacts invented back when dinosaurs roamed the earth are still in such good condition. It's pretty cool having such vintage/antique items all for me.
The last big change that's happened in the last few months is I've conquered the potty.
That's right, those are big boy pants, and my massive muscles, that I'm showing off there. I've had this trick down pat for a while now too, which everyone seems to think is pretty cool. It is kind of cool to have a potty all my own.
Anyway, I have to get back to some prep work for Sofia and Mommy's return home tomorrow. I'll be back on the blog soon.

Game Changer

Hello there. I thought I would take this opportunity to hijack my older brother's blog and introduce myself. I am the baby sister, set to arrive in approximately 20 weeks give or take.
I haven't decided if I'm going to be difficult at delivery or not, but if today's ultrasound is any indication, I would say trouble is on the menu. I'm quite stubborn, perhaps worse than my older brother, but that has yet to be fully determined. I got a little miffed with the ultrasound tech who insisted on prodding me repeatedly earlier. She wanted me left, I wanted right. I usually won. I mean, really, who does she think she is, telling ME which way to go? Adults. Such amateurs. Mommy was very pleased that I was so modest, keeping my legs crossed for a rather long while. They've told mommy and daddy that it looks like my legs are rather long, which made daddy sweat a little. As well he should. The first thing he said after he knew I was healthy was that they needed to start saving for my wedding. Gramps told mommy that she should probably just go ahead and reserve a reception place right now. I knew those two were smart. But before my wedding daddy, I'm going to need some clothes, and those don't come cheap. Not for this little princess.
Moving on to the other kid who's in the household, this Thomas kid. I've decided he's alright. First, he's letting me steal his blog for a bit (not that he really has a choice), and second, when mommy told him he was having a baby sister, he wrapped his arms around mommy's belly, and gave me a big kiss. Yeah, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy too, so I'll admit he's a pretty sweet kid. Of course, his excitement could have stemmed from his thinking that he had been spared from having to share his Buzz Lightyear (not likely), but I prefer to think it's because he knows a good thing when he hears it. The point is, I've decided he can stay. I'll need some entertainment.
So, get ready folks, we're about to have a game changer here. Expect to see a lot of pink and a lot of frills. There's gonna be a new sheriff in town, and this one likes her jeans designer.

Fish

I am a fish. Today I finished my 2 week swim lessons. Mommy and Daddy weren't allowed to watch during my lessons, so today was show off day. The first week didn't go that well, as I couldn't quite master the art of NOT breathing under water, which resulted in water up the nose, much hysteria, and on one fateful day, vomitting. I managed to get it together this week though, and really impressed the spectators. I was one of the youngest in the class, with swimmers ranging in age from 2 to 5. Here is a video of my big debut. I still have some work to do on the kicking, but the fact that I was able to find my teachers fingers under the water and swim towards them as she walked farther and farther away AND didn't swallow any water in the process, was a big deal. I also learned how to turn towards the wall and swim towards it and grab the side in case I fall in the water, and how to jump off the diving board. I have video of all of these feats, but Mommy said a few choice words to blogger today because it took a reallllllly long time to load this one tiny video, so you'll have to satisfy yourself with that. If she recovers from her (in my opinion) unnecessary rage at the blog program, Mommy will try to post the other two videos this weekend.
